Lanzarote has its fair share of Bank Holidays and Special Events.
Carnaval brings two weeks of music, dancing, noise, parades, craziness and energy, which on Lanzarote is held mainly on the waterside promenades of Arrecife and Puerto del Carman. It ends on Ash Wednesday with the zany ceremony of the Burial of the Sardine. For this farcical finale, black clad mourners so as a tiny coffin containing the sardine is buried on the seashore.
