Sports – Lanzarote’s excellent year-round climate, together with its unique landscape, means that anyone seeking something more than the sun and the beach will be able to enjoy a series of activities in nature, whether on their own, or led by qualified professionals.
Cricket
Cricket isn’t a well know sport with the locals but a group of foreigners have set up various local teams and have created a mini league, all the games are played at the Puerto del Carmen football stadium.
Cycling
More and more cyclists come to Lanzarote every year to take advantage of the all year round mild weather and also the varied terrain of the island on which to train. There are hire shops in all resorts. Cycle Outlets 🚵
Football
Lanzarote has numerous teams that play in regional leagues, but it also has its own team UD Lanzarote, which plays in the Ciudad Deportiva (Sports City) in Arrecife.
Golf

Padel
Has taken on big time recently, courts are being built in most sports club and hotels to accomodate this new sport on the island.
Pedalos
Available for hire on many beaches. Be careful in the sun!!!
Sports Centers
There are various sports centres on the island, one located in Puerto del Carmen near the Hotel Fariones, Centro Deportivo Fariones, one in Arrecife “Ciudad Deportiva” , Club La Santa in Famara and Aqua&Sports center in Costa Teguise.. Also there are various gyms and keep fit centres dotted all around the resorts and in the majority of hotels.
Squash
This is available in most of the larger Hotels and apartments in the resorts. Equipment can be hired from receptions.
Surfing
This is a very popular sport on the island, especially on the beaches of Calletas de Famara, La Santa, Orzola and Arieta. Lanzarote is a real paradise for wave riders. This unique island has a pleasant climate all year around, magnificent beaches and lots of clean waves along the volcanic coast. A must read leaflet 🏄

Tennis
Most of the Hotels and Apts have tennis courts. They are usually open to non residents and equipment can be hired from reception for a small charge, it is usually better to pre book the courts.
Triathalon
Lanzarote has always been a benchmark destination for triathletes, due to the good year-round weather conditions, the excellent accommodation offer and the existing Lanzarote ESD sports calendar, which includes events of international renown programmed throughout the year
Events include Ironman, Ironman 70.3 Oceanlava and Volcano.
The date for the next Ironman is set for 20th May 2023, and the Ironman 70.3 is set for 18th March 2023. The next Volcano will be held on the 25th February 2023. For the OceanLava the next race will be on 21st October 2022.
Windsurfing - Kit Surf
The presence of strong, clean winds have established these islands as one of the worlds top centres for these sports. You will find windsurfing on the majority of beaches throughout the island and if you would like to have a go tuition and board hire are available from most places. The main windsurfing centres are at Matagorda and Las Cucharas. Competitions are held in July of each year. A must read for any enthusiast 🏄
